With nearly three decades of experience in multi-line claims handling, George Canavan brings a wealth of expertise from both the insurance carrier and broker sides of the business. His deep understanding of complex claims management, strategic advocacy for clients, and commitment to excellence make him a trusted leader in the field.

After earning his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Illinois State University, George began his career with a third-party administrator, managing workers’ compensation claims for major national accounts. He quickly advanced in the industry, joining an insurance carrier where he spent four years as a Multi-Line Claims Adjuster, handling a diverse range of claims, including workers’ compensation, commercial general liability, commercial auto, and commercial property. His specialization in property adjusting provided extensive experience in inland marine, builders’ risk, jewelers block losses, business income, and cargo/transit claims. Recognized for his expertise, George was promoted to the Claims Training department, where he spent two years as a national trainer, educating adjusters on best practices and complex claims scenarios.

After a decade on the carrier side, George transitioned to the brokerage world as a Claims Consultant with a leading insurance brokerage firm. In this role, he managed some of the firm’s largest accounts, serving as a key advocate for clients navigating challenging claims. His responsibilities included strategic claims management, monitoring high-value claims, conducting in-depth claim reviews, and ensuring appropriate reserves and fair handling by insurance carriers. In 2024 alone, George successfully secured $15 million in reserve reductions for his clients, demonstrating his ability to drive substantial financial impact.

Beyond his extensive claims experience, George has earned the Associate in Claims (AIC) designation and is currently advancing his expertise through the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) programs. His dedication to continuous learning and client advocacy cements his reputation as a trusted expert in the insurance industry.
