Position Overview

The Senior Account Manager, Commercial Lines, is a client-obsessed advisor who maintains and cultivates positive, trust-based relationships. Responsible for the day-to-day management of complex client accounts, this role manages a book of business by acting with integrity and providing deep strategic insights for new business and renewals. They win as a team by establishing a valuable connection between carriers, clients, and internal partners to drive growth and client retention.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead advanced strategy and commercial portfolio consulting through program strategy, goal setting, benchmarking, trends, contract reviews, and risk management.
  • Develop a deep, client-obsessed understanding of each client’s business and global insurance needs, designing innovative solutions that align with their long-term objectives.
  • Facilitate global program development and strategic planning to establish client objectives.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships through advocacy, assigned touch points, proactive communication, and expert application of insurance knowledge.
  • Evaluate client insurance portfolios for coverage gaps and enhancement opportunities, providing strategic consultation for upcoming renewals.
  • Act as a liaison between clients and insurance carriers during the claims process, ensuring claims are reported accurately and with precision.
  • Monitor the progress of claims and provide transparent updates to clients, helping to expedite claim resolution.
  • Collaborate relentlessly with team members, utilizing the agency management systems in an accurate and timely manner to enter and maintain all pertinent information.
  • Market clients (new and existing) to obtain quotations through online rating or direct submissions to underwriting.
  • Handle complex underwriting, premium negotiations, and renewal strategies, acting with integrity.
  • Maintain, cultivate, and strengthen carrier relationships to understand carriers’ offerings and the value-driven suite of services and solutions.
  • Schedule and lead client meetings and any client-facing events (e.g., lunches, in-person check-ins) for an assigned book of business.
  • Contribute to the design and revision of current programs and lead or participate in the implementation of new initiatives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share market insights, industry trends, and best practices, and ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
  • Identify opportunities to upsell or cross-sell additional insurance products to existing clients, contributing to account growth.
  • Review policy documents and endorsements to verify accuracy and completeness with precision.
  • Participate in regular team meetings to align on client renewals, strategy, and shared objectives.
  • Coordinate with Management for the invoicing of premiums, completing premium finance agreement requests, and creating premium allocations as needed.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service to review quotes, obtain additional information, review coverages, and generate accurate proposals.

Requirements

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate candidly and explain detailed policy concepts simply.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite is preferred.
  • Experience in the Vertafore AMS360 Software preferred, or basic knowledge of an Agency Management System.
  • Knowledge of, and practical experience in, staple insurance products - General Liability, Commercial Property, Auto, Umbrella, and Workers’ Compensation.
  • Strong analytical, creative, and integrative skills.
  • A minimum of 5 years of insurance brokerage or industry experience.
  • Commercial Property & Casualty License required or obtained within 6 months of employment.

Physical Demands
This role requires the ability to occasionally lift and/or move items up to 20 pounds. The position involves frequent sitting, standing, and walking, as well as regular use of hands for typing, handling phones, and other computer-related tasks. Visual acuity is necessary for reading documents, viewing screens, and performing detailed work.

Work Environment and Schedule

The position is based on a hybrid office setting, with a standard work schedule of Monday through Friday, with 3 days onsite and 2 days work from home.

Compensation

At BlueStone, we value fairness, transparency, and a supportive culture. Compensation for this position is based on experience, skills, responsibilities, internal equity, and market conditions. In alignment with the Equal Pay Act, employees performing substantially similar work receive equal pay opportunities.

Pay Range: $95,000 – $105,000
Bonus Eligibility: Bonus Eligible
