Position Overview
The Account Executive, Employee Benefits, is a client-obsessed advisor who owns and is the strategic client relationship owner for a book of large, complex accounts. Responsible for setting advanced benefits strategy and personally leading all service execution and administration, this role manages their book by acting with integrity and providing deep strategic insights that drive client satisfaction and retention. They win as a team by establishing a valuable connection between carriers, clients, and internal partners to drive growth and client retention. Accounts may be fully insured, partially self-funded, or self-insured and may be global in scope.
The essential duties and responsibilities may include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Serve as the primary front-line service executor for the assigned book of business, responsible for all routine administrative transactions and managing any related escalations—including eligibility requests, ID card fulfillment, basic billing questions, and form processing—to ensure immediate, high-quality client support.
- Conduct employee benefits compliance reviews (e.g., ERISA, ACA, COBRA) and provide practical recommendations to keep clients informed, prepared, and aligned with regulatory standards, acting with integrity.
- Lead advanced strategy and benefits design consulting by setting client goals, benchmarking against trends, and crafting forward-thinking plan designs that champion impact.
- Lead and participate in client-facing engagements—including renewals, strategy sessions, open enrollments, and in-person check-ins—ensuring consistency, trust, and alignment with client objectives.
- Collaborate with Benefits Analysts to analyze carrier reports, plan designs, and industry trends, and to develop contribution strategies that balance compliance, client budgets, and employee well-being.
- Interpret and compare client health benefit plans and costs, identifying gaps and recommending innovative opportunities to strengthen coverage offerings.
- Serve as the primary, trusted liaison between clients and insurance carriers to resolve complex service issues, ensuring clarity in policy interpretation, and managing the claims process from accurate submission through proactive monitoring and resolution.
- Develop and deliver clear, engaging benefits-related employee communication strategies (e.g., open enrollment, wellness initiatives), correspondence, and compliance notices that support organizational goals.
- Cultivate strong, lasting client relationships by serving as the primary point of contact for client service needs, fostering trust, consistency in communication, and advocating for the client through scheduled touch points and thoughtful application of benefits expertise.
- Foster and strengthen carrier relationships to gain insight into offerings and leverage value-driven solutions on behalf of clients.
- Work collaboratively with team members to collect and manage client data, utilizing technology platforms and benefits administration systems such as BenefitPoint to ensure timely and accurate entry, tracking, setup, and ongoing maintenance.
- Act as a benefits subject matter expert to support the pursuit of new business, and proactively identify opportunities to expand client relationships through thoughtful upselling or cross-selling.

- Superior verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate candidly and explain detailed policy concepts simply.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency in Google Suite is preferred.
- Experience in the BenefitPoint Software is preferred, or basic knowledge of an Agency Management System.
- Knowledge of navigating carrier portals – BCBS, UHC, Delta Dental, etc.
- Knowledge of, and practical experience in, staple insurance products – Medical, Dental, Optical, and
- Ancillary lines – LTD/STD, Life insurance, Accident, etc.
- A minimum of 8 years of insurance brokerage or industry experience, with a proven track record of client retention and revenue growth.
- Life/Health License required.
Physical Demands
This role requires the ability to occasionally lift and/or move items up to 20 pounds. The position involves frequent sitting, standing, and walking, as well as regular use of hands for typing, handling phones, and other computer-related tasks. Visual acuity is necessary for reading documents, viewing screens, and performing detailed work.
Work Environment and Schedule
The position is based on a hybrid office setting, with a standard work schedule of Monday through Friday, with 3 days onsite and 2 days work from home.
Compensation
At BlueStone, we value fairness, transparency, and a supportive culture. Compensation for this position is based on experience, skills, responsibilities, internal equity, and market conditions. In alignment with the Equal Pay Act, employees performing substantially similar work receive equal pay opportunities.
Pay Range: $105,000 - $125,000
Bonus Eligibility: Bonus Eligible
